Commissioning of the new Hall 6 at the Parc Tecnològic del Vallès Data Center

A few weeks ago, we carried out the commissioning of the new Hall 6 at our Parc Tecnològic del Vallès (PTV) data center, in Barcelona. This commissioning and quality assurance process marks a key milestone in the expansion of our infrastructure and confirms the center’s sustained growth, at a time when Hall 5 —the most recently commissioned hall— is already almost fully occupied.

With this new hall, we strengthen our ability to continue supporting our customers’ growth by providing highly reliable, energy-efficient critical infrastructure with full operational guarantees.

What is data center commissioning?

Commissioning is one of the most critical phases in the construction of a data center. It involves pushing the hall and all its technical systems to the limits of their capacity, simulating real —and extreme— operating conditions.

During this process, we validate:

  • The correct operation of electrical and cooling systems
  • Response to failure scenarios and emergency procedures
  • Infrastructure resilience under real load
  • Stability and reliability of the hall prior to entering production

In short, commissioning allows us to ensure that the infrastructure is ready to operate with full reliability from day one.

Load testing: validating the hall under real conditions

To perform these tests, we use load banks that simulate high energy consumption and demanding thermal conditions. This enables us to verify that all systems —power, cooling, redundancy and monitoring— operate correctly even under maximum stress scenarios.

This approach allows us to provide our customers with a robust, predictable and secure environment, fully aligned with the standards required for critical infrastructure.

Technical specifications of the new Hall 6

From an energy and technical standpoint, Hall 6 is one of the best-equipped halls at our PTV data center. Its main features include:

    • IT capacity: 550 kW
    • 🗄️ High-density racks: up to 10 kW per rack
    • 🌱 100% renewable energy for the entire operation

These capabilities make it possible to host demanding workloads and support progressive growth projects, while maintaining high levels of efficiency and sustainability.

Another step forward in our commitment to reliability and sustainability

The commissioning of this new hall represents another step forward in our commitment to delivering state-of-the-art, energy-efficient infrastructure that is ready to meet the current and future challenges of the digital market.

This milestone has been made possible thanks to the joint efforts of all the teams involved. We would like to extend our special thanks to Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Eaton, Electra Molins, S.A. INSERTY Tech Solutions, among other technical partners, for their professionalism and commitment throughout the entire process.

We continue to grow to deliver maximum reliability services, supporting our customers in a shared and sustainable expansion from the Parc Tecnològic del Vallès.
