The company has two lines of business. The first is centered on bioinformatic infrastructure management for the analysis of biomedical data, which allows the implantation of personalized medicine in hospitals and public health systems. The second, Made of Genes, is a personal genetic service that allows anyone to find out more about themselves and their health through the analysis of their genetic and metabolic information and manage access to their data through the platform.

Securely analyze and manage large volumes of complex data
Genomcore’s biomedical analysis service makes personalized medicine possible by incorporating molecular information into existing medical protocols.
But this analysis generates a very large volume of data. The sequencing of an entire genome of even one person generates up to 600GB of data. And this data, before it can be delivered to the doctor, also has to be translated into useable information.
That’s why the genetic analysis industry needs high-performance computing services, to analyze this volume of data. But, apart from processing the genetic data obtained, other data has to be integrated, such as clinical history, or the biochemical values of the user, for which artificial intelligence techniques and big data analysis tools are used.
To analyze this large volume of complex data and convert it into useful information for the doctor and the patient, specific technology is needed that’s not available in commercial cloud environments. So it makes sense that one of the first investments for Genomcore was a series of high-performance servers in order to be able to begin offering their genetic analysis services.
Working with genetic data also generates other needs, as it’s very sensitive information, due a high level of protection according to European data protection laws. Because of this, Genomcore is ISO 27001 certified. This information management regulation imposes a series of requirements, on Genomcore, as well as their providers, in the areas of security, redundancy, and connectivity.
In the beginning, our high-performance servers were located in Genomcore’s offices. But creating a data center infrastructure that complies with ISO 27001 requirements, supposes a difficult investment to take on for any company.
That’s why we needed a provider that allowed us to locate our services securely and access services that offered ample, guaranteed connectivity to manage large volumes of data on demand.

Genomcore’s IT needs require specialized technology able to give them the results they need.
Locating their servers in our data center allows them to make use of optimum space for a closet of high-performance servers, with redundant electrical lines, efficient refrigeration, perimeter control, and first-level connectivity.
Furthermore, investing in their own infrastructure wouldn’t provide them the flexibility they needed to grow and do respond quickly to temporary increases in demands for their services.
